Liam Gallagher is back with a new single his first new material since his 2019 LP, ‘Why Me? Why Not.’

Christmas single, ‘All You’re Dreaming Of’ is a warm, optimistic ballad which is perhaps slightly different to what you’d expect from the former Oasis frontman.

Together with co-songwriter Simon Aldred, Gallagher has produced a dreamy ballad complete with brass and string sections which add very much to the Christmas feel of the track.

There is also some pretty wordplay in the song such as the opening lines ‘Paint the Night Sky while the morning waits’ which adds mystic energy to the track.

Gallagher’s vocal performance on the single is slightly different from the usual nasal snare which you would expect with him delivering a more subdued take leading up to the big choruses which are delivered well.

All together this track mixes elements from various places, the Lennon influence is strong on this one, the strings and piano are reminiscent of ‘Imagine’ but dressed in a Santa suit.

The song also has echos of Oasis’ 2005 single ‘Let There Be Love’ which also takes the slow ballad approach whilst having a similar love will conquer all type lyrics.

All in all, this is a decent effort at a Christmas song which is both optimistic and tender which seems a perfect antidote to the dreadful year we’ve all experienced.
